Surviving my A Levels has to be my biggest canon event yet. I had to lock myself in a room to even think about getting an A grade. Of course my marathons were accompanied by some very helpful apps, some of which you may already know about. If you are still spending your pockets on tuition and academies in the big 26, please STOP and read this. I am going to talk about why these apps I used were helpful and where I used them the most.
Mathematics
My favourite app to-go was probably google Gemini or Gauth. I probably opened Gauth AI a hundred times a day during the days of the exams. It helps for quick, short questions and works through the camera! No more getting stuck on Math questions. Gauth also has a follow up option where you can ask further questions regarding your problem and most important of all, it was free.
Moreover, after faking ChatGPT to be the best help for my A Levels for months, I moved onto Gemini completely. ChatGPT has this problem where it takes a limited amount of media per day, does not understand simple queries AND is not genocide friendly. Therefore, what better App than google Gemini. I used it for any and every problem but it was best for Sociology and Maths.
For extended revision and marathons, I mostly went with the GOAT Zainematics on Youtube. If you are doing your Cambridge exams in the south, I really recommend this channel. It not only teaches maths but also economics, business and computer science. It was a life saver when I learnt that my school was not at all sufficient. Marathons are usually hours long but 2x speed helps a lot. For past paper walkthroughs, I watched this channel on Youtube the most.
Physics
My school teacher taught on Youtube mainly. However, other well known Youtubers are Physics with Talha and Prosperity Academy—extremely useful Youtube channels. Gauth also helped a lot in Physics, especially for multiple choice short answer questions. For past paper solving, the above mentioned channel was helpful.
Computer Science
This subject was a little harder to prepare since I did not have plenty online resources except the ones given by school. HMU if you want access? But, the Save My Exams website is a good guide along with the textbook. For programming, although obvious and well stated, you will need an app that supports Python coding language like Thonny or Visual Studio Code.
Sociology
This subject throughout these two years was a chaotic mess. My school teacher was basically useless, but the subjects seems a little easier/straightforward compared to sciences which made me take it to the last day. So, don't be like me and use Gemini to guide you through the syllabus and exam essay-based questions. For full-syllabus preparation, I am also attaching at the end the pdfs to the textbook I used.
Although these apps are free and beneficial, it is always best to grasp every platform possible. It is useful to enter social media groups on Reddit, Discord or even WhatsApp which help immensely in preparing for your exams. This is the instagram page to the group that I joined.
