It's almost June and I have just one exam left. It's in just 2 weeks and there is no doubt that I'm taking this period as a break, because what on earth were these exams?
Starting strong on May 3rd I gave my first exam of the season and it went great and I was super motivated. I grabbed a burger and celebrated only to find out that the paper was leaked. This wasn't the first time it happened; last year the same math exam was leaked and it was immediately taken into account. I was lowkey relieved that it wasn't me - but this time it was. The school said they were not responsible for it and Cambridge itself denied these "false allegations" a little while later.
This was a pretty discouraging encounter and I did not want to carry on with this momentum. A couple days later I was back with new energy only to find out that the 2nd exam was leaked too, and the 3rd exam and then the exam after. So apparently every single exam was said to be leaked and Cambridge kept denying it, so it was one of the two things: either the Cambridge paper confidentiality system had broke down or someone kept "proving" that the exam was leaked and this action was very funny. After these series of leaks students maintained a neutral interest in this matter and kept a go-with-the-flow energy whereas deep down I know that struggling students who spent so much energy and mindset into this are devastated.
In terms of the exam stress and talk, everyone was giving their best and was pretty motivated to get those As. All that is left now is to plan a college-application-friendly summer and wait for the Cambridge results in August. And while Cambridge has not given a very moving statement, I think that there would be free seats in the next exam season in November to cover up for this loss (for Math 9709) like last year, however us students are not very sure how many of these leaks were legit. If nothing happens, the thresholds will rise and this will cost students' grades since many have seen the paper beforehand whereas many have not.
Even with these leaks, the exam month would have been pretty smooth if Cambridge was active on this matter. Concerned students are also raising awareness on this matter, trying to bring professional attention by creating protest groups on social media, tagging British Council on platforms and spamming emails and documentation to Cambridge and British Council itself. Hopefully we will be heard, with leaks and those responsible addressed.
